we are in need of bolus to maintain levels in sheep, what are other people using?, never used them before. Are some better than others,
Thanks.

What is the most deficient? If I wsa just after doing Cobalt and a bit of Selenium, I'd look at the Mayo boluses, as posted above. If you want to supply Copper as well, you will either need to give copper capsules alongside, or change to a bolus containing Cu. Likewise Iodine, which has caused massive issues locally this year.
I've been using the Agrimin Smartrace + for three years now and they work well to supply all of the above (& relatively cheaply). Even they didn't address the aforementioned Iodine deficiencies this summer, without a booster drench too though.

I am new to boluses but I have used carrs billington own on my gimmers Hogg's and plan to use them on my ewes prior to lambing. The Hogg's are looking pretty well on them. I think they were about a pound each for 4 months cover

I tried the agrimin smartrace ones and they are like bullets, massive things and if the sheep spit them out they just crunch them up like sweets, I've now switched to animax 3 in 1 ones, much smaller and are a wax bolus as apposed to eroding bolus, The agrimin ones work in pairs by bashing against each other in the stomach. In New Zealand they have strict laws regarding anything administered to animals and they are only licenced to last for 6 weeks, although agrimin say 6 months supply, I very much doubt they last 6 months.

How do you arrive at that statement?:scratchhead:

Agrimin once claimed to me that they are the only company that has actually tested to back up their claims. I have no reason to doubt them.

I've heard it from a couple of sources now, one of them being somebody who used to work for agrimin and has now left and works for another company, maybe it's complete bull poo but the fact is the licensing laws in New Zealand are stricter than ours so there must be some truth in it somewhere.
