I have a few hundred acres rape and wheat straw I want to sell in the swath this year in Oxfordshire, where is the best place to advertise this? Can anyone recommend a auction local to me that would sell it on my behalf? Tia

Sell it to a local livestock man that will give you a fair price maybe not big money but will get it moved quickly to get rape in etc you never know who your going to get at auction

Put it over to Thames and Kennett Machinery ring. Talk to Ian there.
From what I have seen of crops I think it's going to be a year of plenty unless things change for the worse, it's like living in a greenhouse here at the mo , and one thing i do know livestock farmers have had their gut full of spending on forage so look out

Aye straw in the swath has been too dear for far too long... but transport in many areas is what drives the standing straw price high as it adds so many ££s onto the haulage of bought in straw on the lorry..

Ref the quality of crops now, well as a buyer of standing straw ( and I hate to say this ) most crops are far too forward for this time of year and wont yield anything like most think they will ( be that grain/straw )..

The old boys saying is very true: the worst a wheat crop looks at the end of the winter the better it will yield OR the better a wheat crops looks at the end of winter the worst it will yield..

Ref the OSR straw, that will be only worth £10/acre so just chop it and be done with it..
