Service draw pits

Before I put a new track in, eventually there will be services running the same route so it makes sence to put ducts in under the track for the services. My plan is to build a access pit ware the services will come from and one ware they are going, with ducts between.

But I’m unsure, is it ok to have electric and water in the same pit all be it they will run in separate ducts?

Depends on whats either side of the road.

i tend to Chuck a load of ducts in 1-1.5m down and back fill, cover the end in plastic bags and a load of sand then if I need them again it’s easier to find.

just replaced a 3ph supply from OH to UG and they said 450mm was ok! It went in 1.2m

they seldom care if it’s deeper than their spec. The fun comes with guessing with sewage / surface water!

My plan is to put 3 ducts in, 3 phase mains one side, spare duct for whatever onsite electric in the middle and water on the other side.

Sewage / surface water will have to take a different route anyway so not an issue in this instance.

Utility providers will normally have a diagram of what the developers need to put in for sites and will give you a good idea. In general the ducts should be 150mm apart minimum, electricity can go in shallower depth than water if needed. if phone cable being ran keep as far away from power for interference.

Chuck a fibre optic cable in for good measure. It’s dirt cheap ( well under £/m ) and has a number of uses. I.e. security cameras, electric gates, internet. Just leave a good length of slack each end .

I will see what I can find, yes I believe electric is 600mm and water 750mm.

Go 6 inch smooth inner rigid in black - covers most i think

Good plan but doesn’t sound so cheep over 100m :(

Good plan I plan to always leave a draw rope in but you know what happens to good plans.
