SFP / rented land

Very basic question so please humor me! Who gets the SFP on rented land - the landlord or tenant?

Depends on the tenancy agreement, could be either but rent should reflect which it is, has to be on the application and have entitlements whoever claims it.
If it’s a proper FBT it’s the tenant.

The tenant . Unless it's a very short term tenancy . You have responsility to look after the stock and do all the field work

Short-term, herbage, headage payments, grazing licenses etc. The landlord gets it
Long-term, AHA or FBT. The tenant gets it (but that does not mean the landlord hasn't taken in SFP into their rental calculations, so might end up with it anyway)

The farmer gets it.

So the tenant should receive it......even if they then pay it to the landlord. Or, a more accurate version, you pay it to the landlord 6 months in advance, then spend all winter hoping the RPA dont fork it all up and actually give it to you at some time.

I have 6 arable landlords ,,,,,,, 5 take the SFP and on the other we receive it but it's given back in the rent

sheep grazing land rented with us claiming sfp is about £80 - 100 , without (landlord claim ) approx £30- 40 acre , some we get for free and claim (so owners can claim ag use of land for inheritance purposes or to keep tidy for house owners ) it all balances out ,

It's not that much more profitable for the landlord to rent it out in comparison to farming it himself. Cheap for a guy to take a handy 100 acres for not much at all.

The sooner SFP gos the better, most want £70 for reed, ridge n furrow and full of weeds you cant spray they keep sfp or £140 + you get sfp and pay rent up front...i have 8 land lords...this is wants killing the job..............it was alot better with headge payments

Rent has dropped £40 /acre since headage payments went , people renting land to play the numbers game
