If it comes down to that or what labour are offering I know where my vote is going too!

Free Uni tuition fees (for the students’ votes), free insulation for every house (for the old folks’ votes), a crackdown on dodgy landlords (for the tenants’ votes) and pay increases for all public sector workers (that’s another big lot of voters bought).

What’s not to like? Unless you happen to be one of those that earns or owns anything of course, ‘cos you’ll be paying for it....

Which leaves you in a quandary?
Bet you'd like the right to buy after all the hard work you've put in but you own stock ,assets etc. Then when you've bought it corbyn will nationalise it.
Should've come to France Neil!

The police already have powers to move on more than a certain number of trespassers, they never use them. We all know they are either sh*t scared of the pikeys or are on their side, and frequently refuse to enforce the law on the grounds that attempting to do so would be 'dangerous' or against their 'human rights'. So creating another law that they refuse to enforce is utterly pointless.

I'd like to see how tolerant you'd be if they pulled up on your ground?
They are their own worst enemies.
If travellers hadn't built this horrible reputation myself and a lot of others would be happy for them to stop for a limited time. So long as they left the place as they found it, didn't commit crime or anti social behaviour and generally behaved themselves.
But they just can't help themselves. It seems they are brought up to hate everyone.

There is some chicken and egg at work. If you like doing naughty stuff then form an ethnic group and don't have a postcode or landline.
There were proper travellers when I was a boy. Moved around doing seasonal or casual work. The taxman may not have liked them but not causing trouble then retreating to a no-go camp.

Congratulations for assuming I’m just a liberal idiot with no experience of travellers. We had a group that used to park on Council land on the road that splits our farm in half. They were there for over a decade coming and going. We used to have to walk the cows past them on a regular basis never any trouble dogs always controlled. Always polite always friendly I speak as I find. Is this country becoming more intolerant yes I would suggest it is. And the next six weeks is only going to make it worse.

I remember them hoeing sugar beet, picking peas, then potatoes. Then in the winter they sold linen line pegs etc.

I remember when they were a useful pool of casual labour and some of their resurfacing gangs weren't bad. Then it all seemed to go criminal. Even the older travellers despair of the younger generation. It has to be acknowledged though that they were never going to be doing PhD's and as manual labour has become more and more complicated to organise they have ended up semi redundant and that's when the trouble starts.

The Tories always talk tough but never do anything. I have heard 40 years of that bull sh!t and the system just gets softer and softer under either party. Crushing their caravans is no real solution. It will just leave them homeless and probably at the front of the social housing queue to be a PITA to somebody else.

Whats needed is a longer term more imaginative plan. Stick and carrot style.

What we need is a new type of politics. Any policies should be scrutinised by an independent committee to make sure the policy is affordable and deliverable. After an election if the policy isn't delivered then another general election should be triggered. Labour are clearly going to promise the earth to the electorate with populist policies that would bankrupt the country. I don't think that elected politicians should be able to switch parties either, if a politician can no longer support their party then a by-election should be triggered in their constituency.
