Shearing lambs

I’m wondering is it to late to shear lambs that will be out wintered I’m in west of Ireland so plenty of rain for winter. I’m fed up with mountain lambs getting stuck in ditches Everyday

Just done 100 this morning with a cover comb.

All the shearers around here shear bare asked before about cover comb but they didn’t want to know!!

What's wrong with them? They're just the same as normal combs to use, just watch out for tits and hamstrings.

Don’t know not many lambs clipped around here I usually do it in August as had trouble with pneumonia when done in October before.

All mine shorn (bare) this last week, Highlanders, pedigree Charollais & pedigree Beltex. They'll all be outwintered and I would have no worries about whether it's too late yet. They'll soon have a bit of cover back on.

Ok I’m safe enough so. Do you vaccinate for pneumonia before hand?

No, I've dropped Pasteurella vaccine. You don't get pneumonia from being cold anyway, it's a bacterial infection.

If you are worried about the cold you could leave the bellies on them, giving them a warm layer to underneath.(like us putting on a wooly hat)

Did ours yesterday heavy rain last night and moderate this morning not a bother on them
