When did fibre cement start being used instead of asbestos as roofing material?

just before your oldest shed.
put a shed up in 72, that was real cement fibre, the parish council complained of the colour of the roof, planning asked us to spray slurry over it, to help the moss grow !! chucked a couple of buckets over a corner, told parish council we had done it, every body happy.

any thing put up pre 2000 has to be assumed to contain asbestos unless tested and proved otherwise as the manufatures stoped using in mid 80s but where allowed a few years selling stock pile

This. There's no date you can pick on to determine whether a shed would have had fibre cement or asbestos sheeting, old stocks of sheeting were being used up for a number of years after they stopped making the asbestos version. You just have to test the sheets to find out one way or the other.

Obviously the regular asbestos report needed on your buildings will point out the asbestos content

The change over was about 1990-1995.
I had one that should of had asbestos in it in 1994.
