Shed Within A Shed

Aye-up,

I’m moving my kit to a new yard. It’s a nice place with decent big buildings to park all kit indoors, but I have no workshop to carry out welding and small repairs in out of the wind. All the big sheds are open fronted or sided.

I could do with an enclosed workshop probably 10x6 metres with double doors to get a small tractor into. To save on cost a bit I’m not intending to build anything big enough to get a spreader in. The jobs on those can wait until better weather!! The only shed with electric and lights in isn’t high enough to get them under.

The iron rafters (if that’s the term) in that shed are about 10 ft high so I think a ceiling could be fabricated from them. That leads me to think I could probably enclose an area of the big shed. What about wall options? Breeze blocks? Timber? Box profile sheets? Concrete slabs?

I thought about containers but being long and narrow they are a bit restrictive.

Just pushing ideas about.

Thanks in advance.

Cheers, Pete.

I'd just put a 100mm concrete panel at the bottom as a kerb, then purlins above for cladding, can you not enclose 1 bay?

What about a curtain on a sliding rail. Used to have a them in a body shop to partition off for priming cars. Could heat it to cue it quicker.

Is it a reasonably secure yard, or will you need something like a nuclear bunker to keep the nomads away from your tools and equipment?
Sheets are too easy-off with a battery drill...

10ft container for tool storage then a curtain to isolate your working area. Heavy lorry style curtain maid of pvc. Sell them if you move to another building or build a workshop inside the barn.

Thanks chaps. Only just got the alerts for these posts!!!

All installed and full now. It gets a little bit of condensation but not much. The floor is plywood and the roof has been painted internally with anti condensation paint.

I’ve got the plugs and lights all going too. Luxury!
