how many weeks before tupping would the sheep get the best use out of a bolus

depends what for and also if realy needed if not realy needed there may not be any gains just added costs

We don't bolus ewes prefer complete trace element drench as you can target it for when you need it. Bolus ewe lambs etc and I would say they take at least 1 month to work ,but are only good at maintaining correct levels not bringing our deficient levels up. I M O

I'd agree with that. A drench will bang TE levels up quickly, but will not last as long, whereas a bolus will trickle a bit into the system over 6 months, maintaining a level. On vet (& bolus rep's advice) I have moved to drenching a week or so pre-tupping, then bolusing at scanning to see them over lambing & lactation. Seems to work OK, and cheaper than double bolusing.
