Ratchet strap!
What are you going to pull with a ratchet strap . Two feet at most.Ratchet strap!
You can buy that bar, with bolts rather than wedges - they never slip - for about £80. Great product. No angle iron will slip on the wire or damage it , you need a 3 round bar system , 2 bars one side and the other in the middle the opposite side , pulled together with wedges . I made my own and it works perfect.
Attach to loader pull up slack with tractor then then tension with ratchet strap. Works on straight forward pulls. What are you going to pull with a ratchet strap . Two feet at most.
Yes, I use them - they tend to last only 12 months with our use but are very useful. I tend to get frowned at by the 'professionals' for using them as its not how they do it 'down under'Are these any use to the "pros"?

Oh yes - 4t pull is well on top of it. They just seem to fall apart - bolts bend or the little springs that hold the ratchet dogs break - but I like them. We use a home-made affair with two bits of angle - one sitting inside the other arranged so the harder you pull the tighter they grip the wire. To tension we usually use a chain attached to the protech or the loader. The wire puller gets used when using two clamps to pull to the centre. I cannot see that wire would be better than chains or vica versa - other than the wire one is easier to let the tension off IMO.Are the cable pullers good enough to pull up 2 x 100m rolls of HT netting @ploughman1963 ? Why don't they last. Are chain pullers a better bet for HT netting?

i don't se the point in using second hand poles that have been cut when you can get new telephone pole spec strainers from f4f that will last 50 yrs.my advice would be fence and forget creosoted posts, telegraph pole strainers, and strain up with a chain hoist and two pieces of steel clamped over the pig netting
They are made by Gibney engineering here in Ireland .Been looking for gates and gate posts to go with the clipex fencing. Really like the set up in the photo. Where are they from?
