A new Beiuyan will be cheapest to buy new from Horner but really there all much the same. Its the setting up and man grinding that get gear sharp
i found the longhorn combs better out the packet this year and kept edge better , (might be the same beiuyan different branding )

A grinder was lost in the post
Hope you got your money back :(

They are hard to find at the best of times - not many farms have one these days
Yes i did get money back but it was a very good buy so was really cheesed off. Tailing all these Hoggets before sending away and then having to belly them on sale means i cannot keep asking my mate to do them with increased usage.

Thanks did buy a lister at turn of year and it was lost in post!!! so gutted as they do not come up for sale often!!

more likely he found out what the grinder was REALLY worth and had a ready buyer on hand , doubt very much a heavy item like that would be lost in the post,

perhaps it fell down behind the seat in the post van

there was one came up in wessex machinery sale last year a 12" , i really thought i had it for £20 , got to third warning by auctioneer , then it went on and i took it upto £150 and i let it go as under bidder , (didnt have press plate ) should have gone on another 100 really but i already had one at home ,

At Smithfield one year there was a stand demoing sharpening combs on a flat diamond plate, anybody tried it??
Lister combs always had a pronounced concave surface, but the grinders with aluminium plates ground the combs much flatter

Item was posted and tracked to local distribution yard but it never came the final journey and Hermes would not tell me where yard was.!!

yea i have one of those , they take ages to use , bought one for clipper blades (at the time everyone was shaving the charollais faces) constant figure of 8 grinding with paste , would take half hour per blade , If anyone sees a sharpener for sale buy it , you wont loose any money ,a lot of folk at an auction dont know what they are for , and always look out for the steel press plate to put new emery on the discs will have a big thread and nut in the middle . the worse that can happen is burnt motor and will cost about £250-300 to get rewound at local motor technicians .

They need a hollow grind, thats how they work bit like scissors are.
