Is there any way to find out the name of a farm using the herd number?

I don't think the data protection rules allow that information to be given out freely.

Do you have a problem with a group of sheep with the same flock number?

My OH got snarled up in some stray sheep issue up in village, they were in someone's garden so went to check them, not ours, but could confirm they were welsh. pcso chap persuaded her to catch one so they could read a tag, he seemed under the impression he could tap into a database and find the owner.. he radioed the number in but we didn't here anymore.

vendor might not have been breeder though....i suppose you could report a similar tag though not one of yours....then arams phone them and they phone you.....doubt they'd be very pleased though

I bet he or she is pleased after all the effort to track them down you just want to tell them there’s nothing wrong with their sheep! They might be hiding from you!

I googled a flock number once - it was a ram breeder and he happened to have sold rams in a sale which had its catalogue online, so google found it.

But surely the movement document will name the vendor. And if the vendor isn't the original breeder, he or she will know who from whom they bought them.
