Sheep's Skin Disease

Hello and good day members! My livestock of sheep are developing a skin disease and our local VET have been unable to determine the cause behind this. I am posting a picture of the dry skin problem that is plaguing my herd. Any assistance regarding this issue will be highly appreciated. I am sharing a picture of the affected area for your reference. Thank you!

Do you think it might have been caused by mosquitoes and leach bites?

Not many of either over here in Scotland. They would probably be put through a dipper or long lasting injection

Looks a bit like sunburn to me.

Could they have eaten something that would have made them photosensitive?

It looks like a combination of things if I saw sheep with those symptoms here - external parasites, dermatitis, and sunburn, poor things.

Do you have livestock mites in your country, @Ali S? Would there be a spot-on topical treatment available to you to treat against, if there is? The ones in the UK get rid of most.

Then, do you have an ointment such as a simple zinc based emollient you could rub onto the dry patches? No harsh ingredients, just a water based moisturiser without any perfume would do.

Are they eating and drinking well? I see their troughs are well stocked, but can't rule out a lack of vitamins or minerals. Mustn't rule out internal parasites, too.
