I've spent a fair bit of time working out of a portable office on site (nuclear power stations). They are welded/folded steel, just like a shipping container, but are insulated, have windows, personnel doors, heaters and power sockets all pre-installed. Would be ideal as a farm office. They even come with extendable legs to keep them out of the mud and/or give the terriers enough room to go ratting underneath, and have security shutters over the windows so you can get them proper dark for an afternoon snooze.

The one we worked out of at Dungeness was painted a sandy brown colour, so always assumed it was ex-military. We had two at Hunterston; one stacked on top of another. Lovely view over Arran from the top floor. :)

ETA guess you can get a welfare unit type one, with showers etc. Maybe @Suffolk Serf can let us know how the peripatetic pig keepers do it.

I got a secondhand "Welfare Unit" for a site hut from the Jackson Group. They have loads of new and secondhand modular and container buildings.
I got on a lot better with them than a certain Suffolk based firm.

Leavesley Containers (LTC Ltd) fit out containers for all sorts of uses, plenty as office units etc. They did our weighbridge office, insulated, shuttered window, toilet accessed from outside, sink etc and a long counter top, all plumbed and wired ready to go. 15 years old now and in fair condition still.

I got a 30x9ft site office just before Christmas, paid 600 quid for it. Its in good nick, has 2 rooms in it one with a sink and hot water heater thing but does really need repainting.

Might have a porta cabin coming soon which will be for sale !.

Anyone made a container not look like a container? 1 near the house would be ugly. Some on ebay wooden clad look better

Yes, I clad a jackleg steel cabin next to a house that's used as an office.

Tec screwed battens into the troughs of the corrugations of sides and nailed on 7inch boards horizontally.
Boxed in the legs etc, took the security shutters off the Windows, in fact it has double glazing fitted now.

Looks like a log cabin....

I worked on some years ago, used fibre cement cladding, battens onto the corrugations, and fix to that. Also put a mono pitch roof on them with box profile sheets. Worked really well
Always fancied doing one for myself, drive some telegraph poles/railway sleepers into the ground for it to stand on then clad. Ideal for self isolating !

We have one. Be very careful of condensation. It’s a nightmare to keep our big printer/photocopier dry! In winter

Gotta pic? My wife is not that enthusiastic about my bike garage which is a hi-top 16ft container

You can get anti-consensation paint that works very well. My container was spray painted when I bought it. Bit of marking coming through now so I will spot paint this summer.

Bikes and bike gear are all bone dry ... Not sure about electronic. Biggest problem is that they are damned cold!!!
