Hello

I'm moving from UK to Europe and wondering how brexit going to affect shippement of my personal belongings?
If it's worth mentioning, I am a citizen of the EU country I'm moving/sending my belongings to. Items are being shipped in boxes via transit van. Does anyone have any information/ advise me what happens? Do I need to make a list of items that's being sent, will I have to pay some sort of fee, customs charge, ect?

Thank you!

If you are using movers they will know the rules. If you are doing it yourself contact HM customs. I doubt anyone here will know.

True.
you need to contact someone with a knowledge of the implications and consequences of leaving the customs Union and the single market.
you haven’t a hope of finding that from the regular posters on here.
In fact someone will be on to tell you your peddling project fear in a minute

Congratulations!

We shall be following as soon as possible. (Should have gone in 2020 but Covid complicated things.) From earlier experience (several times) I'd echo the thoughts of those suggesting using a company that really knows what they are doing. Generally expensive. Wishing you the best of luck.

You will be back again in a few months. The EU will collapse by June, without the UK there to pay for everything and keep things organised.

it is not HM custom to contact , it will be the French Customs to be concerned. I would have thought if you were an EU national and they were all used goods then they would not be concerned but who knows, it is early days

As the op has not stated which European country they are moving to my first point of call would still be HM customs. If they can’t answer they will direct you to the relevant customs authority. No point in asking French douanes if you’re moving to any of the other European countries.

you are quite right as the OP may be due VAT back on goods they take out of the country, if they have the invoice.
f course they will be liable on these goods to take into the EU if they are moving permanently

I know someone who was working in Canada, he sent a big box of work clothes he'd been wearing home as he thought shipping them would be cheaper than excess baggage. Because he put a value on them when he posted them, the delivery driver would not hand them over, here , before he had the cheque for the tax / vat.

Why the fekk, should somebody from Europe who is not a farmer, join a British farming forum at 11 something pm, ask a question about moving to Europe, then last be seen a few minutes later and not since?
I smell a rat.
It's @Clive s fault , new members should not be able to start a thread with their first post , especially if they're bitter remainers , enuf of them on here already
