We have some on order and it's sounding like they won't be available.
Another supplier has cancelled our order and they say there won't be any this year!

I thought that most of the national supply of point of lay was managed by one company in the main and they may be managing the market so that any independants will soon sell out.

Two that I use near here. One says "none spare yet, will let you know", other can put us on the list for September.
I presume you are small scale like us (150- 200).
I'm told that the spares are being sold for the "garden" trade as they can get 4 x what we are used to paying. So much for looking after your regular customers.

We haven't been able to get any this spring .wanted about 100 then a month back got offered some 18month old ex commercial free range.so gave it a go as they were free and took 60.they are laying really well I wish we had got more

We tried a few local smaller suppliers of POL pullets (who buy in at 16wks ish and resell) and they were struggling to get stocks for the rest of the year, and long waiting lists. Dad was even considering buying eggs or day olds to rear on.
But then he rang another supplier (nr Chesterfield) and he had plenty, he essentially buys day olds and has someone contract rear them for him. He's already ordered his for this time next year.

But you might be getting more then just hens.
Ok if you don't have any already, but if they bring in something that knocks your birds about best not to bother.
I wouldn't want anything that hadn't had a full vaccination programme either.

I never mix hens anyway
