Shorten and remove axle from lorry

Hi all,
We have got a 6x2 Volvo rigid flatbed, which we would like to convert to a 4x2 by removing the tag axle and cutting some of the chassis off the back to shorten it.

It looks straightforward enough to do and we can do the alterations ourselves out but we are unsure on what paperwork needs to be done or if it is even possible or legal.

Anyone got any ideas on what might be needed?

cheers

Do they need any proof that it’s compliant or can we just book it in for a test?
The test will prove the compliance.
Another way maybe to speak with a chassis engineering company who may have in house compliance and would possibly take care of it upon doing a bit of tidying up to your work, in inverted commas.
