Should I sell my rolls?

I havent used my cambridge rolls since I started using the 750A. Am contemplating selling them. Any one else given them up or not farm with them now that they are no till?

I bought some recently!

I sometimes seed without rolling after but always feel more comfortable having rolled for various reasons - not least closing slot and herbicide protection. Also it gives Dad something to do but I can see a day if he's too old to do it then I'd probably do less of it.

Only used mine to roll in some Horsch drilled CC, not needed behind 750.

Roll everything religiously, but it is only in the hope of getting a degree slug control without pellets.

such a roller is for me like a hammer in a tool box. Not needed every time but belongs there.

I normally work on the basis that if something hasnt been used for a few years then it gets sold to put capital into something that is going to be used. That said in the back of my mind I am thinking that it may be useful to have a set of rolls about hence my query. I find the JD 750A with guttlers does a good job of closing the slot and I havent needed to roll, but possibly havbent used it long enough to make a call on the rolls!

Unless you need the cash I'd keep them. Sometimes in adverse seeding conditions they can help. If it's a bit wet and you struggle to shut the slot it can pay to roll 24 hrs after drilling when the soil has dried a bit.

Have hardly used mine in 3 years but will keep them for the reasons above.
If you do need to rip anything up occasionally a pig tail and rolls will get you out of a spot for very low capital and maintenance.

I do find the ground better after not rolling, but sometimes slugs etc can need a good pounding. So I would keep them as a back up.

@Clive still has his IIRC but I don't think they see much use.

I'd never sell mine but my flints will ensure that.

My rolls are used more often pre drilling than post drilling. The idea being to crush some snails and to help chit some grass weeds.

It depends what the are. If they are a nice 8 metre set with levelling paddles then you should sell them .
I'm looking for a set.

Do they crush snails? We had loads this year in one block and that was despite rolling.

To be fair, I doubt if they kill that many snails but every little helps. It's just a side effect of trying to get some grass weeds to germinate.
