Should we cease farming?

I think some farm land will be abandoned in the next 15 years, but not for climate change reasons. It will be interesting to see what happens to the fells and Scottish mountains when sheep are removed - these are the farms most dependent on Basic Payment for their viability. Maybe removing farm subsidies will result in more carbon dioxide being sequestered?
Or maybe less

How would that be? Less N fertiliser applied on more extensive grazing systems, so less biomass grown to take CO2 in?
depends on lots of things
what replaces the subs
where the food is produced if land is abandoned to ag in this country, no point in exporting the perceived problem because strangely enough air pollution don't tend to stop at borders
I don't think farming should stop in many places unless a cull of the real problem happens

What is the real problem for you?

Subs won't be replaced as such. Less money and directed towards environmental goods, not production. You're right about exporting the problem but out of sight is out of mind for the majority of voters/taxpayers/consumers.
