I was having a discussion this morning with my mother - The amount of overgrown fields is ridiculous. Everyone and their auntie are making fodder to sell. Trouble is most don’t spray so you can’t buy it from them.

Made a start on the winter barley today. Looks a fair straw swath tbf. About 20 minutes after we started the guy who normally has it asked how we getting on! Asked a price but didn’t give one. Off the field what’s it worth?! Herts/Cambs border.

If it's good straw wouldn't think you could go too far wrong. Question is do you think it will go cheaper? And can you earn out of it at that price
It has to be top quality for us as we feed a lot to calves so I'm a bit dubious without seeing it.

Anything is possible, we have been told that there has been more barley planted this year than last, but projected yeilds are poor?

The fym factor is the only way we can earn out of it.
