5 footers don't 'fit' on our trailers ! Next door always used 5 ft for straw, as they were, what farmers wanted, then wondered why no-one was particularly keen to buy them. We baled hay in 5's this year, didn't look a lot in the field !

You may not get as many bales on, but there may actually be more straw per load.

As an example, a 16’ Ifor will take 10 (six on base and four on top) x 5’ bales comfortably, or 14 (Eight on base and six on top) x 4’ bales. With 50+% more in a 5’, in better off with them.

Of course the reality is different, as 4’ bales are rarely that and can run out to 4’6”. Oh, and 5’ are too wide if stacked flat, and can’t go three high as easily either.
