Tayler and Fletcher said that buyers are not hot at auctions as the moneys not there to put up front, they are buying private as they need it , can't blame them really, unusual times when auctions are dragging the straw price
Recon as our barley straw was smashed up crap this year as we bed up with the jcb we are using more bales per day than last year
All depends what you can persuade the person selling to accept, plenty of rubbish about that people are dreaming of selling for high prices. After winters done and dusted there will have been more silage sold nearer £30 than £40 imo

Ours is all smashed up. Normally roll a bale out down the alleyway but it just rolls out where it stands. Squares are worse still can’t get any wads out to throw into pig pens. Using more straw than normal. Hoping for reasonable price for straw in Hereford next werk

I hope so. Only had 8 an acre of my straw ground this year, 14 last year. So need a fair bit to get me through summer into baling time. Use straw all year round here
