Silos or Grain Stores?

It seems UK farmers use grain stores more than Silos. Why is this - versatility, ease of drying or cost?

How long does it take to load a 30 ton lorry from the grain floor and what do you use - front loader? The process of filling 31 tons of cereal crop takes around 35 mins from start to finish on the weighbridge.

Yes most will be using 1.5t buckets on telescopic handlers. Some bigger, some smaller but loading in under half an hour I should say. Our lorries take 29t.

How high do you fill your grain barns 2-2.5 meters?

I think many would be 3-4. Commercial stores much higher.

Mind you, if you patient good second hand silos can be really cheap, then you can put stirrers in at a fraction of the cost of flat store stirring/drying.
