Single joystick steering, JCB Robot

Have a JCB 190 skid steer on trial (2nd hand) with single stick steering unlike our existing 160 which has dual stick steering & floor pedal boom controls.

We are finding the steering very jerky and a bit "remote". Is this common to single stick servo controls or is there something that calms it down? Personally, I would buy the unlock code to allow us to run it in H pattern (ie steering with both sticks but left doing up & down and right crowd as well) but before I lash out a further £1100 on the code I would want to be sure it behaves itself like the old 160.
Also, without an attachment on the front, it is incredibly light and rears like a stallion on must without much provocation

All ideas welcome.

PS we would only buy JCB for its side entry as the old fella (me) wouldn't cope with climbing in from the front

I've not driven a JCB skid but I get on very well with Bobcats on ISO controls.
Good to use.

I don't see why it should be £1100 for a code?
It's the flick of a switch on a Bobcat, providing it's got the full hand controls obviously

Tbh I think jcb are taking the mick but the single stick is seriously demented unless the throttle is well down. Put it in “Hare” mode and the whole thing turns loony. Can’t believe it should be like this
