Slurry Cooling

Just been reading an interesting bit in the pig buildings magazine that came with this months Pig world, never heard of it before but it appears that it could be a very good idea to reduce ammonia emissions and could possibly be fitted into existing slurry stores as was proposed, possibly by an industry source, to be a good idea to install in new stores or tanks under stock.

I don't have any slurry myself but it looked like a good idea to me if I was to do that sort of thing and would possibly help with planning applications for an intensive or large building.

I spread some last night, -4 this morning it’s very cool now , I think that will be the most efficient way of cooling it , mind it was fairy cool to start with burst hose on the pump showerd me and it wasn’t warm.

So no actual proof it works. And who is promoting this?.possibly manufactures of the buildings or equipment

Does not need any more proof than basic chemistry equilibrium position. If you move it from ammonia to ammonium it will stay in the slurry. Note the y axis is a log scale

I thought it would not be long before you posted on this tread ! . How is your slurry acidification project coming along.
Very interested in the idea after reading about it prompted by your posts.

Have been having problems getting pumps to deal with fibre, should be a new one coming today. I think the acid might alter the fibre consistency, otherwise almost ready to go into action
