Thats funny, no answer.....What is the top operating speed recommended for these coulters?
Will - Have you taken anything forward with these guys or any other similar drill manufacturers (Sky etc...) re. On farm demos etc. ThanksFYI all the adjustment bolts at the back of the coulter for depth and angle are being replaced with a more user friendly system as fitted to one of the outside coulters (if my memory serves correct).
What advice are you giving farmers / growers who are moving away from a conventional min till scenario to your system? Can the Boss drill be run on tilled land? What advice do you have if potatoes are in part of the rotation? ThanksThe Boss drill has many different advantages.
Firstly if we are comparing it to the weaving gd you will notice the difference on the visibility (Coulters are to the front and tyres to the back on the boss.) When we run analysis on the double angled disc we found that the down pressure requirement was reduced and more manageable versus seed furrow compaction.
The double angled disc of the BOSS drill works by snatching. It always tries to get more and more in the ground according to speed and depth. The faster and the deeper you go, the less pressure you’ll need.
This ensures a great furrow quality, which will allow a seed germination and root development.
The units down pressure - The unit is mounted on a parallelogram. Down pressure is achieved via hydro-pneumatics.
Connected to a sensor on the gauge wheel, the hydraulic down pressure allows ultimate control of the coulter pressure. This gives an ideal situation to monitor and control furrow compaction and depth.

Thanks for the questions, keep them coming.
Yes we have updated the coulter to have easier adjustment.FYI all the adjustment bolts at the back of the coulter for depth and angle are being replaced with a more user friendly system as fitted to one of the outside coulters (if my memory serves correct).
The Boss drill can be used in no-till and min-till systems. We have two different closing wheels, a wide W wheel and a narrower v wheel. If you will do a reasonable amount of min-till and your soils are not so heavy, then we would spec the W wheel. In no-till on heavy/tough soils the V wheel guarantees slot closure. All of the adjustments on the opener are there to ensure you can achieve penetration, desired depth and slot closure in almost any conditions. Of course.. Everything has its limits. What advice are you giving farmers / growers who are moving away from a conventional min till scenario to your system? Can the Boss drill be run on tilled land?
