Small grants sheep weigh

Last minute as always looking to put in on small grant scheme... been wanting a 3 weigh draft and electronic scales for a while, but would people recommend having the weigh crate or getting Weigh cells on to a combi clamp? All opinions grateful

Have you already got the clamp? Or would that be part of the claim?
I wouldn't be without my clamp but the weigh cell side of it is not as accurate as I would like. I get far fewer lightweight lambs going dw now I have put a weigh cell conversion on my old lamb scales.
It's really useful weighing with the clamp and it's so easy doing multiple jobs in it so I'm quite disappointed it's not more accurate though I still use it as a guide.
It might be improved with better mounting and I haven't got a trutest weigh head but others on here have made similar comments.

No haven't got one at present would be all part of the claim, Mainly do all sheep jobs using our rappa so not sure if the combi clamp would be as easy as a light weight weigh crate to lug around. In an ideal world would just apply for the weigh crate and cells but doesn't come up to the minimum spend, so wondering best way to get to minimum spend? Wether it's to improve our fixed handling at home in order to utilise the 3 weigh crate better!

What system you got? Find ours pretty much spot on, we don’t sell dw though.

1 thing the clamp is definitely not is easy to move around. Various members on here built their own trailer systems and Ritchie do 1 (£££), but if you're using a rappa in multiple locations think I'd be looking at a drafting crate that would mount on somehow. Have you eid reader/software or could that be part of your claim to make most use of the weigh system?

Got a reader but I think you have to have another reader as part of the claim on the weigh crate! Been looking at the tru-test eziweigh 7i weigh head on a Swift-draft 3 way draft crate that Livestock management systems has just brought out! Any idea on what the grant covers on the fixed handling?

I've got trutest weigh bars but gallagher weigh head. Just seems to vary too much as you move around on the footplate, and doesn' necessarily zero accurately if you have to jump off and on to poke up an odd awkward 1.
Ahh we’ve tru test and xr3000 and don’t notice any movement in weight.

I am looking at a weigh crate as well although I am unsure of the exact spec required. I have emailed the enquiry service twice without response. My confusion surrounds whether it is the actual crate that Must draft or if it is the weighhead. The following is from the actual spec.
.' The weigh system will be a digitalweighing device with the ability to record individual animals and track the live weight gains as well as the capability for drafting'.

Does this mean that it is the weighhead that must have capability to draft. I understand the eziweigh 7i has this capability ie. you can set it to indicate different weight bands that can then be manually shed on leaving the crate.
Or does it mean you need an autodrafter.
The standard price upon which grant is paid is very close to the price of the shearwell weighcrate which I suspect is where they have got the price, which does not have drafting doors.
