Small twin rake

Looking to get a small twin rotor rake of around 4.5m or 15ft to row up in front of a baler. The closest thing i can see would be a fransgard 6000 but not all that keen on the design. Are there any more rakes similar to this?

That's more like a job for a single rotor rake. Years ago we had a lely Rotonde which was twin, but more like a haybob style. Wouldn't recommend it, ok in hay/haylage, a piece of garbage in silage. left lots of grass on the ground. Have a Claas 2600 now, great rake! A bit big for your 15" job. Does 20" nicely if your baler can handle it and your mower size suits.

We had a rotonde for 15 years ahead of the baler. Changed for a Class 770 when we went to a Welger 435. It always leaves a great, even swath, which means great, tight bales.
Don't bother with single rotor. Twin all the way!

We have a Kuhn 4.5m single rotor which does a nice swath, baler man quite likes a double row set up as two rows side by side if you know what I mean.

Time is what I see as the greatest drawback wih a single rake, if you are travelling at the same speed as the baler he is still going twice as fast as the rake.

But you can't drive faster than 3-4 mph or you'll lump it (effectively 1.5-2 mph because of the two passes) and your balerman wants to drive at 10mph:banghead:

but haybob rows are crap, or so they say

That depends on the operator.

A good row is essential for a tight , square edged bale.

I'm following my kuhn 243 spreader mower conditioner and don't ted so no lumps to start with.

Yes I would like my balerman to slow down, but I need to feed 4 of my neighbours Lely 220 bales to 3 of my own.

The Haybob 380 (the telescopic one) works fine as long as you have plenty of grass.

I've also used a stoll 655 twin rotor rake(21'6") but with a bale every 60 yards it hasn't time to do many rotations in the baler.

Would have bought a lely rotund a long time ago if it was a cam rake. What are the single swaths like on a large single rotor? would be very versatile but a bit awkward on the headlands and leaving a double row somewhere. Would be happy with 6-7 acres an hour. I'm seriously considering making one from two old small cam rakes like those 7 arm kuhns but would have to reverse one rotor somehow.

Was the Stoll rake any good as I know where there is one coming up for sale that I may be interested in, cheers

I do a 6.5m twin rotor rake, as well as a 4.5m single.

Works very well - The only problem I had was going across some sidling ground when it was greasy. The model with the steering headstock wouldn't have done that because as the machine started to slide ,the wheels would steer it back straight.
