Snowflake dog walker .

Three weeks ago I caught a villager walking her dog around a field next to one we use to graze livery horses in the winter . I pointed out the error of ways & told her to keep to the footpaths as people & dogs in places where they shouldn’t be can & do startle animals not to mention the chaps who come shooting who don’t expect folk to be wandering about . Anyway , today I get a phone call from the local police saying my name has been mentioned in relation to a public order offence ! [emoji51]Because it was on private land though & she was in effect trespassing then no action would be taken . Take heed folks .

I would have told the 5'O to jog on. It is your land - and you have done nothing wrong by politely asking the lady to stick to the pathways. What is the expression they like to use for things they want nothing to do with - Oh yes, a Civil matter...bloody jobsworths.

Madness. How can the police possibly say that, when it’s your word against hers.

The police these days work on the basis of the first complaint received, they don't bother looking into anything, that would involve work. So the trick when anything kicks off, is to get your complaint in first, regardless of what happened.

I can't find it now but there is a blog post somewhere by a serving policeman where he explains how the system works nowadays, and how the criminals (who know how it works) exploit it, and how middle class law abiding types fall foul of it, because they expect the police to try to determine who is at fault and deal with them, when in fact they find it easier to just go after the person about whom the first complaint is made, regardless of what actually happened.

The woman had reported the ‘altercation’ on 101 so they have an obligation to make enquiries . The officer was quite understanding but obviously had to take a neutral line on the matter .

There's probably a procedure somewhere that tells them they have to inform you if someone's complained, even if there's no way they'll act on it.
Take it as a heads up from them that there's a stupid woman out there looking to get you in trouble. Next time you see her- and I think you will- make sure you don't go off the deep end with her, record any conversation, then make a complaint about her.

I really do despair about the attitude of the general public nowadays.

The police are just as bad - they're that sh!t scared of using common sense to deal with such complaints they end up going way over the top in case they get reported to some ombudsman or other:mad:

When 'I was a lad', the local bobby would have said to her, "Now look here Missus, you'd no bloody right to have even been there at all. Stop talking such a load of drivell and be off with you and stop wasting my time".
