Soil Inspection

We have had notice that we are getting a soil inspection on Wednesday. Any information on what that involves would be appreciated. Does it matter that with it being the middle of winter the area they are going to look at is muddy to say the least.

I know my neighbours had an inspection because their sheep walked along the top of a ditch, turned it to slurry, so destroyed the green cover. Not sure what the outcome was though.

I had a woman turn up the other day for a feed sample, She took 3 samples that had been milled, barley, beans, oats, mineral & protein. She said it was going to be checked for bone mealo_O
When APHA were here TB testing they asked for samples of any bought in milled feeds eg cow cake, sheep nuts, again to check for things that should not be there. In this case, nothing to do with crfoss compliance (The soil inspection obviously is). APHA have to get so many samples per year for routine random testing, same as livers being taken at abattoirs to check for medicine residues. Also took bloods from dairy and beef to check for growth promoters and also milk. Happy to oblige

Surely this is a cross compliance inspection? or possibly a field mapping inspection?

Soil inspection to make sure you are keeping up to date with GAEC rule 5 of cross compliance. They replaced the soil protection review, which was just a paper exercise.

Instead of asking for random (and not necessarily reliable) answers on here, why not go on to the RPA website and read through the various GAECS/SMR's that you agreed to abide by when you claimed the SFP? I'm not trying to be funny, but getting this wrong could cost you money. You need facts, not random hearsay. If you can't be bothered, I'll happily come and give you a pre inspection and help you with paperwork. All for a reasonable price and some tea and biscuits. I know what I'd do if I was you though!

Got to love all this, visited a Brit farming in the Loire last summer, he said X compliance wasn't really an issue there.... he thought there was a book...
It's all about jobs for the boys ( and girls and LGBT's)

Good luck, be interested to hear how you get on.
