Solar Expo

Well, if you wanted proof that China totally dominates the "Green revolution", a trip to the NEC totally confirmed it for me! One small bright spot was one solar panel maker from Romania, but owned by a Chinese company.

Never seen so many Chinese faces before outside HK. I cannot believe there are so many companies knocking out everything that you need to build a solar farm....

Cheaper hopefully for larger wattage panels??
Yep, some 650-700watt models on offer now too.

Had a long chat about bi-facial panels on teh Jinko stand, which was really quite interesting. I was specifically asking if it was worth putting them on a roof, with the sheets painted white below. His answer was really not worth it, as the panels needed to be at least a metre above the roof, or put on an angle to get a gap for reflective, diffused light.

Note that planning has been passed for this project and yet we see that the grid connection date has been set for 2036!!!

I remember the boss of Octopus commenting that it took 3 months to build a solar farm, 5 years to get planning and 15 to get a connection:-

Think I read National Grid will be revising grid connection dates in 2025. If you've got planning permission and can show them a pile of cash then you can go to front of the queue.

I'd be a bit annoyed if I'd already been given a date of say 2026, but then NG handed it out to someone else and pushed me back to 2030.
