I'm just about to have a 50kw solar system installed and have been asked if I have a preference regarding the inverters, I have a choice of sma or Schneider also 2 x 25kw or 3 x 15kw
Though I would ask for the views of TFF

Hi 2manycows

This is a very strange question for your installer to ask on several levels. Firstly unless you are a solar expert how would you possibly have an opinion. Secondly the data modelling they will have done via PVSol or some other Solar design software should give them the optimum Panel / Inverter output results based on irradiance levels in your postcode.

I've just run a quick calc based on a job we did in Ilkeston the 3 15kWp Shneider Inverters with standard panels 41,618 kWh's per year and the 3 SMA 15000 TLEE 43,636 kWh's per year. This is a simplistic look at it and there may be orientation / shading issues that would suit one more than the other. But in essence your installer should be advising you

I would also look at the warranties on offer as they vary between 5 and 12 years.

Kind Regards

Mike
