Please don't think I'm being nasty but I would get back to the grasshopper if I was you. I'm so traumatised from having a lely that every time I see a claas drum mower I just buy it. I have three of them now.
i have a claas corto 3100 in pieces if you want it.
i want a grasshopper, but you cant buy such a thing now.

Just had a call off the lad mowing to say the gear box has just went on ours [emoji57] no point in going back in to work tonight, as everywhere will be shut so I will have the joys of trying to sort it out tomorrow

Ah!!
The famous Lely gearbox trick!!
Makes the bed repair look like a piece of cake.
Had that, tried to repair it using two boxes to make one good one, but not very sucessfully. New box seems to be the only fix.
Good luck.

the 46mm nut is welded to the lock tab!!

What a joyful time you're having.
We had Lely mowers for years. They did a good job and were light to handle but I don't miss the regular appointments in the workshop. Bought a JD 1365 a few years ago - heaven
I've got some Lely bed units here which I need to put on ebay.

You think lely is bad, wait till the 1365 lets go.
Its well worth taking the heel plates off completely to check the bolts holding the bed tight or not broken

After a few quick checks nothing looked obvious, so went to drop oil out of gearbox and found it bone dry and a fair bit of metal swarf on the inside of drain plug, dealers here stripping it down now while I bugger off spraying

Seal in the bottom goes, oil escapes in to the bed which is normally dry. No leak to be seen anywhere to alert you and the drop box then eats itself. [emoji22] [emoji22]
