I like Diablo but couldn't get any this year. Planted it fairly late 2022 maybe mid April, some barely had a drop of rain on it. Yielded average but I was happy with that at the time

Upto the end of April should be fine.

Even into May if needs be ( which is looking very likely ) thou would need to be crimped/ sprayed off .

I've got nothing in. Will be going in up til 5th May.

I'll spray it off to harvest I expect

Not too late at all. Still another 3 weeks of April yet.
Drilled some 20th April last year into heavy ground. Best yielding SB last harvest.

Loads of time yet I would think - we're hardly into spring, and the weather isn't really very springlike.


If anyone can make a bumper yield from spring barley whatever the drilling date it'll be the luckiest man in the country.

Its getting less optimum. End of the week would be normal for here. But not got any worked, sprayed etc yet.

This would be a very normal time in this part of the world. It will be towards the end of month where things start to get compromised with barley. The 9t of spring wheat seed sitting in the shed looking at me, is troubling me more than the spring barley and beans seed next to it...

Near enough since Easter weekend, 33mm just yesterday flooded roads and fields all over the county yesterday, most roads open again now but still got some serious puddles in fields, only lost 5 lambs yesterday but heard of others close by losing dozens
