As above trying to work out best option for Spring Bean stubbles covered with blackgrass. I see I have options of

leave and direct drill wheat. Leaving blackgrass seeds on top (getting a bit late)

Leave and direct drill spring barley

Plough and drill spring barley

Thoughts?!

For what it's worth I'm scratching the surface about once a month, following winter beans.
I'll continue doing this till it's too wet.
Then I'm putting Linseed in.
Possibly followed by osr.

When I followed beans with spring barley had no problem although this year it is dry enough to now plant winter wheat here in half of years late winter wheat is a non starter we need to be flexible
This reduced bad bg to low levels year on year so we can go back to late September wheat establishment for top yields
Be careful on n rate for malting
Long term combineBle cropped land has no issues
If the land has been in grass in the last 10 years n rate needs to be a bit lower
Put all n in the seed bed in March with no till then drill barley when it is dry enough

I plant wheat notill after beans with some bg leave the bg seed on the top
Delay drilling till now if the beans were planted early
if we were able to use avadex or centurion max the bg could be surprised till the beans give good ground cover
Spraying the beans with 1.5 l glylphosate in mid August can take out a lot of bg before it has produced viable seed
This harvest spring barley after osr ( wheat failed due to not being able to fall last autumn and heavy bg ) has reduced bg now going in to spring beans If it stays dry we will mole drain this autumn drill beans in late March if the early planted spring barley which will be followed by osr is planted

Sounds like winter wheat would not be wise. Tickle the top inch between now & March with occasional glyphosate. Soil N test with a non ex-beans field too as a comparison to tweak N dose in the barley?
