Spring pea seed rates

I'm looking at the possibility of growing some peas next year on some lighter land. Apparently large blues are probably the easiest to grow and achieve a premium sample. Is this correct? Also what sort of seed rate/plants per metre square should I be aiming for?
One last question, what if any seed dressings are best to have, do many people go for downy mildew dressings?

wakil seed dressing for damping of etc but its bloody dear (£100/t) but I have a feelong its being withdrawn. seed rate is roughly 250 kg/ha but I think this is light and wants to be 300 plus tbh. peas are a sorry crop......sorry you grew them or sorry you didnt grow more

This sorry analogy is brilliant! Also very true. I'm growing Daytona, seed rate 65-70 seeds m2. PGRO website is a good resource.

Usually go in at 250kg/ha but this year contractor drilled around the 200kg mark unintentionally. Peas look good so far. Still have to harvest them though!
I don't dress for downy mildew but I usually don't grow them too close in a rotation- try to have them 1 in 6.

Drilled at 235kg/ha last year, I felt this was low at the time. Watching the combine try to pick up the peas from the floor makes me question a high seed rate
