I think the fallen stock ban has a great effect on numbers

Got a lot to do with it, back in the 80's several of us locally were topping 100 a year, seemed an endless supply.
Boxing day shoot often went over 100 in the 50's before the mixy came. Also had loads of Widgeon and Snipe, Golden Plover, Lapwings.
Loads of flatfish, mullet and bass and salmon in the estuart, used to be fun trying to catch limpits by surprise to get them off the rocks.
Nearly all gone now.
Thinking about it, local uni did some samples on the marsh last year, they found a layer of high lead from the 60's suggesting a big petrol pollution
incident affecting the Tamar/Tavy estuaries. This would tie in with the gradual disappearancees from that time

It's a poor keeper that doesn't keep a few foxes in his patch to clear up any wounded birds or 1s that aren't picked, if you know where they are and keep them fed with any ket they won't bother your pens
 
What's a farmers view on using for a dog to hunt foxes providing the fox is shot after witch is legal same with hares aslong as there is a maximum of 2 dogs and permission to use the land reason I ask is I've just bought a puppy bedlington x wheaten x greyhound cracking little dog and will be out looking for that ever golden yes!!! In the coming weeks for when he's a bit older I realy just want to course rabbits and take him ferreting but wouldn't mind fox aswell not interested in hares thanks john
