Have any of you used the stainless steel thread inserts successfully as in attached info.

yes i have used them but i was putting them into aluminium.

and i think rather than the usual M10x1.5 tap i needed a M10x1.25 to install.

Keenserts americans call them i think
 
Yup, ive used similar,called timesheet, used on sumps and for repairing threads on a cam belt tensioner they work well.
It came in a kit with the correct size drill bit and tap .
Just make sure that there's enough metal around the edges before you drill though,and don't Go to deep,a guy who i worked with drilled through a water way on an engine once,he wasn't popular
