Stanhay 870 drill

Drilling swedes yesterday and our stanhay 870 is sowing very heavy on one box, I have tried a different belt and base plate but that has not helped. Has anyone else had this problem or know a fix for it?

Pin that holds the base plate bent ? I was always told to store the seeders on their lids to prevent this, if removed from the drill.

Saw one on a trailer yesterday heading for the scrapyard , looked a good 9 row!

I'll have to have a closer look at the pin, the one headland was particularly stoney and the drill was climbing over them, maybe caught the pin then. I always store the seeders on the drill but with no choke, base plate on seed belt in.

Might just check that the side panel fits on the box properly with no gap between belt and box had this with leeks once

i had this problem last year, i cant exactly remember what it was now. i know i had to take the box apart completely. i think there was a chain or belt slipping inside that drives one of the rollers on the belt backwards. it didn't need any new parts when i found the problem. i had checked the belts and panels like you did first.

found a parts diagram, open it up and see if the chain is slack/skipping. you can tighten it by moving the sprocket in the slots.

I’ve got this for sale if anyone’s interested? Not got round to listing it yet. Think I have some spare seeders also but I’d need to check there condition, it’s got beet belts in but I think I’ve got some others somewhere.

Drill works fine though, just gone to a folding rallye 592 so need to shift this to make some space.
