When you consider some of the people that have been elected to Parliament over the years - the incompetent, the power hungry and the downright crooks - it can be comforting to think that there is a higher level of government (albeit imperfect, as I would be the first to acknowledge) that can provide some measure of checks and balances.

But I think we both agree that it would be better if there wasn't a mass break up at all?

No I'm about 60:40 in favour of leave, I doubt anyone can be 100% in favour of either choice, it's too large and complex an issue.

But I think trying to force the disparate cultures and economies of Europe into a one size fits all strait jacket is bound to fail. Economic and trade agreements yes, political and monetary union no.

Also I think it's best if nations govern themselves and write their own laws, accepting the fact that democracy is the art of the possible and the least worst option. The EU commoners are fundamentally undemocratic with no accountability, nor do they

What I don't buy from the Leave campaign is that if we leave then on the 24th June we will have reached the sunlit uplands and all will be sweetness and light. It will be hard, whatever course we take won't satisfy anyone all of the time, that's life. But I think history will reveal that to leave in as polite and orderly a manner as we could will have been the right decision, for us AND mainland Europe.

.

Agree with that opening statement

Second of your points above, I'm not sure. Test the theory, if we come out and then EU decides it can't afford to keep peripheral EU states coming in, do we all accept that (and I pluck a Country out of thin air) perhaps Montenegro cannot have any more EU funding for development, it must leave EU and then it decides to become it's own nuclear State?

I was told by a senior within D G Sanco (EU Veterinary Dept) that the biggest transformation and now "beacon status" for welfare of animals in transport was Montenegro.

You make a good point and no thinking person can be 100% either way

Worse still what if them pulling or being withdrawn precipitates ethnic unrest again?

Wonder if we will see him down the job center with all the farmers that will lose their jobs
The only farmers that will be down the job centre will be the ones who cant change and evolve, and perhaps they have more in common with the socialists who want a euro state than they care to admit, we have no right to make a living from farming and if some cant when many can then perhaps they need to look at themselves for the reason not to the tax payer to bail them out

Lamb price is 30% down on two years ago,

It wont get any lower regardless of being in or out of the EU, if we come out it will go up if anything as we will be able to ban NZ lamb.
So we start this brave new world of global trading by banning lamb imports from a fellow commonwealth country, sending a message to the rest of the world of our intent.Do you really think world trade works like that? I think it far more likely cheap lamb will be sourced from where ever it can be found .Never mind,BPS will cushion the blow,Or will it?
