Steel weights

Thinking of extending the shed this year. I know the steels on it are 7" x 4", but how do you work out what weight/ metre it is from the outside measurements.
Then, is 8" x 4" of the same weight/ metre any stronger than the 7" x 4".

7x4 is one weight only as is 8x4

RSJ and other types, box, U beam, etc. do come in different grades and weights
they will offer greater strength in different planes, so expert advice is needed when calculating the requirements.
I am certainly not qualified!
