Who are people getting the best rates off for steel currently? Usually use dyfeds but time to check my prices i think. Wont be bothering knapmans. NB tube, box, merchant bar and hot rolled plate. Located Devon. Any suggestions?

I use AJN but because they are local to me. Anything I need that I don’t have already I get from a small engineering firm in the next town and buy the amount I need. Rather than a full sheet of 25mm I can buy a 200mm by 1000mm length ect.

I priced pulham and ajn today and they were more expensive than what I'm already paying, parkers were crazy expensive, nearly Austen knapman level pisstakery

Parker's pricing is all over the shop- they beat AJN on a beam enquiry circa £1400 vs £1200. It is a bit of a lottery with them hence we keep trying as sometimes they'll come up trumps. However, a very different company to a few years ago.

Had a big beam (356x171 iirc) off Dyfeds a while back £700, knapmans quoted £2000 for the same

I’ve been using AJN for a good while now but when I ordered a tonne of fairly small box, 40x40 up to 100x50 Parkers were £400 cheaper! I’ve only had two lots from Parker but you need to do a list of what you want on the website and create an enquiry from it then ring them up with enquiry ref and they’ll give their best price.
