Some of tbe black oil will be coming through the crank seal but it will also be coming through the cork seal between the sump and the rear main bearing. This will need the sump dropping to replace.

Its a 4 piece gasket. One gasket for each side and a cork seal for front and back.

I am not sure but to fit new clutch in super dexta you need special jig to set up first before fitting
you may not believe what I say next but it is true ... we have a dexta that was leaking oil bad from the back of the engine and I was topping it up with 15w/40 ,but when servicing the engine and I went to refill engine with new oil I discovered that I did not have enough new multigrade but I had plenty of HD30 which I use for petter sawbench so I used all HD30 and the engine stopped leaking this is true..
also is radiator clear to prevent overheating and is fan blade clean

it could well be leaking engine oil, and needs sorting,
but for the clutch to drag, it's more likely to be the rear oil seals from gearbox tube, as this puts the oil in centre of the clutch, and onto the plates, and is less likely to be engine oil,
but you won't know till you get it apart

And that oil cud be black from getting hot on clutch plates @Pennine Ploughing and confusing job
Presumably at least two seals on the inner /outer shaft
Wen we split it years ago the pilot bearing was sat / jammed next to bolts for fly wheel so nothing supporting inner shaft
:whistle::whistle:
Been busy on a pond desilt resently tractor split is on the list

a few days ago I said I put HD30 in our dexta and there was no more leaks , the oil I used was Fuchs Titan TXE30 which I intend to put in my old engines and that includes the oil drip on my 90 year old Amanco open crank when I eventually get it going

Use a local supplier if you can then if any issues you can liaise with them about it

I can get you parts but hassle if parts are incorrect etc and returning refunding postage bla bla bla

If you go on sparex vap websites get your part no I will price them up for you if your struggling

I get my parts from Mayhill and Silverfox tractor spares, both very good to deal with. Silverfox not the cheapest but tend to only deal in stuff that fits/works where as others tend to be not too bothered.
Just done my 35 seals, I trimmed the rope seal just proud of each casting after soaking in oil and I also put some Graphogen grease on the crank when assembling it. Some say dont trim but there was no way it would have fitted if I had not done so, guess we'll find out soon enough!
