Is skyscraper stiff strawed?Used to grow Gleam here now all Skyscraper, massively out yields the gleam in terms of grain and straw.
No issue with ours going flat unless it’s where a muck heap wasIs skyscraper stiff strawed?
Is Grafton stiff or just short .?Do you mean a soft or hard feed wheat?
No longer on ‘the list’, but there is none stiffer than Grafton, or earlier, or more consistent. Hard, reasonable yield, but outclassed by newer varieties.
It’s like bristles on a brush. Needs a slightly higher seed rate due to its lower tillering capacityIs Grafton stiff or just short .?
How does it compare to Graham if u have grown it?KWS Cranium - all stood here this year and is regarded as very stiff strawed . Pleased with it
Sorry we’ve never grown Graham so can’t compare for you - AHDB will do the comparison data. Main differences will be cranium is lower spec weight, later maturity and better yellow rust resistance. Graham will have the edge on septoria resistance and I think you’d be splitting hairs when it comes to yield. We mainly went for cranium for its late sown vigour - about as vigorous as you get in a W Wheat. How does it compare to Graham if u have grown it?
I don't understand why they have not come up with a replacement for Grafton with similar stuff straw I loved it's predecessor HumberIt’s like bristles on a brush. Needs a slightly higher seed rate due to its lower tillering capacity

There’s a lot of Dawsum across the country that looked like it was steam rollered and there’s some that is/was standing tall. It’s all about management
