How does it compare to Graham if u have grown it?
Sorry we’ve never grown Graham so can’t compare for you - AHDB will do the comparison data. Main differences will be cranium is lower spec weight, later maturity and better yellow rust resistance. Graham will have the edge on septoria resistance and I think you’d be splitting hairs when it comes to yield. We mainly went for cranium for its late sown vigour - about as vigorous as you get in a W Wheat.

We all want a good stiff strawed standing crop but what is driving your need to find the best?
Using too much bagged N?
Too much muck?
Inadequate PGR program?
Land type?

There’s a lot of Dawsum across the country that looked like it was steam rollered and there’s some that is/was standing tall. It’s all about management

Having had a bad reputation for putting crops down, I would loose the cooperation of my contractor if I went away from Grafton. He's just finished up for me in a leatherjacket affected field. A bolder sample and banana ears has compensated for a pretty thin stand and rough tally suggests a lot closer to 5t than 4.

As I cannot convince the beasts to deposit their fertiliser in line with a VR map, variety choice is key.
