What have I missed ??
Been off grid since 11 am Friday, only got power, phone and mobile couple hours ago . Poor little 2 kv generator has been on continuous keeping our fish tanks and reptile pens warm ( farm school). Had to refuel every 3 hours and can report that it used 20 ltrs petrol every 24 hrs !
Boy was it windy and has been since and even now its windy. No major damage just 50 or so tiles/ slates.
Big thankyou to Western Power as they were faced with hundreds of problems around here and even though it took three and half days to restore , I know they did well .

"The main road connecting Manchester and Sheffield could be closed for months after recent storms caused a number of landslides.

“The road is in serious jeopardy,” he told i. “It’s the ground that supports the road [that’s sinking], there’s about a 75ft drop into the river, and if that ground slips into the river, the road could follow it.”

Mr Byford, a former building control officer, says the road is still “moving” and that no proper assessment will be able to take place until it stops."

If they are not going to make an assessment until the ground has settled (stopped moving) then the road will be closed for a long time and the Woodhead Pass and M62 routes will be even worse than normal, particularly since the Northern Rail Leeds Manchester Rail route will be replaced with busses along the M62 during the next 15 years of upgrades.

In 2015, Highways England proposed a £6billion tunnel beneath the Pennines but the project has yet to be signed off.

That’s what “The North” has been allocated instead of a new Electric Leeds - Manchester line,
The upgrading to Electric will be along the existing route, section by section similar to how the farce which was the West Coast mainline upgrade, and Bradford will STILL be a terminus and not on a through main line.
That’s what “levelling up” means for the laughingly called “Northern Powerhouse”.

Follow up to the damage we had, the roof was unsafe so it had to come off.

Don,t have BT phone line anymore, there internet speed was shi#e, plus everyone's on mobile phones now. We have mobile internet now, even comes on holiday with us, even though i haven't been there anywhere for 3 years except Bluestone.

My line went down on the Friday and was finally repaired last Monday so over 10 days. They told me not to worry as my broadband would automatically connect to 4G but that was hopeless and no amount of experimenting would find me a good signal.

Yeah. No 4G on their network here. It’s not even the fact they’ve not fixed it yet it’s the lack of communication

contract runs out on the 14th so was planning on getting rid of line then anyway, not sure how that will affect the compensation payment.
