I've installed storth hydraulic scrapers that I got 2nd hand. I've no manual with them, does anyone know the procedure for setting the timings?

Use SET for the clock and then the sequences. Use # to confirm your lane timings and STOP when you are done. It will then tell you to press 7 & 8 simultaneously to confirm. Press AUTO to start the system on automatic. If you want to send lanes off out of sequence press 1 (MAN) and then the lane numbers. If just one lane press it twice; ie if you want lane 2 to run out of sequence press 1,2,2.

I will try and send you a copy of the manual, it's dead simple and if you get stuck Storth have always been very helpful. You will need to figure out how to change the lane pressure settings,- run on the lowest pressure you can get away with so the "cow down" rise in pressure is felt asap but be prepared to raise it in cold weather.

I didn’t have a manual with my scrapers from Storth when new but as said , they are very helpful over the phone and will post any bits you may need out.

Can’t say I’ve ever needed to adjust the pressures on mine, do you need to access the secret menu to do that? I’ve had a look in there sometime and there’s a lot of stuff I wouldn’t want to mess with, I only access it to reset it when it reaches its service intervals.

More help required. We took them out intact, only disconnecting the pipes and cable at the ram box. Now I've them back up, when I run a cycle manually, the ram will do a stroke in and out, then it pressurises up and cuts out. The screen then counts down to try again, pressurises out then cancels the operation. I've a fitter rung a week ago to look at them but he's a busy chap and I'm hand scraping the passages currently.

when we have this after fixing a split pipe, we have to keep doing this canceling the time out and try again, i think that its the fact that there is air in the hydraulics that is causing the problem , it will sort itself out but you have to keep trying

Try swapping the pipes over, I cant remember the reason but there is a right and wrong way to put them on.

They should push put when they first move, to move them away from the park sensor if fitted, if after one stroke the sensor is still activated they shut down. We've done away with park sensors on ours.

No there is a right and wrong way to put the pipes on as we had a similar problem after a pipe burst and I had to phone storth as I could get them to go, I can’t remember why it was though. Do you have yours setup counting the strokes @Fraserb

Yeah we run it counting strokes, had botger with the park sensors freezing one winter so changed it to counting and they've been like that since.

Cheers. I got a storth chap on the phone this evening and he said much the same as the above. It's been sitting maybe 6 months so the filter could well be bunged with gunk or the solenoids could be sticky.

They are great when they are working but bloody infuriating when not! Personally I was glad to see the back of our hydraulic scrapers.

To be fair ours were never installed or setup correctly to start with and it was a continual learning curve to try and figure them out.
At least 25 years since first ones went in here, Malgar back then, allthough its a bit like triggers broom, the original control box is still going albeit with a new circuit board 10 years or so ago, a double pump was fitted 20 years ago when another shed was built, the first shed was changed into a milking parlour and handling area 9 years ago but some of the tracking is still in use.
New shed has a Storth set up but other than a different design of oil tank with pumps in it is essentials the same.

Agree with that, one shed was converted to ropes earlier this year.
@Fraserb What kind of ropes did you put in.
I wouldn't be annoyed with Hydraulic scrapers personally they are pig on the winter and so slow. We looked at scrapers few years ago storth and dairypower are all pushing Hydraulics after my experience with them they are a complete waste of time

Its pollock rope scrapers that were put in, biggest issue with the hyd ones is theres so many things can stop them going.
