Strip light capacitors

Any electricians in the house? ?

Been cleaning some strip lights today and noticed some of the capacitors snow signs of heating up on the connections. Electrical factors are not open intill Thursday so had a look online as some research. The ones on the units are 13μf but a quick google only comes up with 12 or 16 ones in the same shape and style. At the price in the link it makes it a no brainer and might aswell replace them all. Do I oversize or undersize? If I´m correct it’s better to oversize slightl?

Whenever I have replaced one in anything I have gone bigger (because its what i found in my stock... heap of clutter) with no problems.

I wouldn’t consider fixing them I would replace them with led, once you’ve tried them you’ll never go back to fluorescent lamps, so bright much more efficient!

Yes I know, we have some leds aswell in other sheds plus we have them at work. But for what this shed is used for they do the job, they’re about ten times better after a clean today!!!

Unless you have a 3 phase supply with power factor monitoring I wouldn't bother replacing them, just cut them out if burning. The cap doesn't affect the operation of the lamp it's just for power factor correction.

As zetir said don’t waste time cutting bits off or repairing them. Replace with leds and job done for years to come. Led strips have dropped in price by about 50%. In 2015 I did a shed that took twenty double led strips as you call them and they were around €80 plus vat. Last year I did my machinery shed and they were €40 for doubles and light quality will really be noticeable.
