Hi everyone, what are peoples experience of wide row spacing for spring barley in a strip till scenario (Claydon/sumo/mzuri)? Can the crop handle the wider row spacing coupled with the increased plant density in the seeded area?looking to go down the strip till route but just slightly nervous. thanks in advance, Sean

Done one harvest after strip till drill. You can't actually see any drill rows at harvest time, less than in conventional. This is the opposite of what I expected. Had some oats that went down, then you could see the rows but ears still off the ground, no problem to combine. The plants compensate and grow to fill the space. No detriment based on one year.

Spring 2020 we got a demo of claydon with standard set up . Good crop but badly brackled by harvest and missed a lot of ears combining .

Spring 2021 they came back with the twin tine set up. Very little brackling although I wasn't quite as keen on the straight tine compared to A share type .
