Stripped cross shaft - looking for Case & McCormick breakers

Started ploughing this week and our mccormick xtx185 has stripped the splines on the arm on one side of the lift cross shaft. The shaft itself is not too badly worn as it must be made of harder stuff than the cast arm. A new one from mccormick is £400. does anyone here know of anyone breaking large case tractors or mccormicks. I think they are all the same part on magnums, mx170 possibly mxm170 & 190 etc maybe same on big newhollands as well. Anyone ever heard of these going bad? I know it is common on some JD's (our old 6810 had do be re-built) but this thing is twice as heavy as it was.

Don't waste good ploughing time for the difference between £400 and whatever less you will eventually have to pay for an used one.

On the other hand you just might get lucky, but that model isn't exactly thick on the ground and I doubt that the part is shared with another brand.
