Any tips, the half inch recessed square drive type? Got t bar with scaffold pipe on exerting decent force (t bar starting to bend) and giving head a clout with a hammer while pulling bar and won't move. Not easy or ideal to use gas but is this the only option?

if the worry is that its going to 'round' or knacker itself select a decent sized bolt or one that will fit in the recess and with a decent head on it
... then weld it in place carefully with a 312 rod. bolt head will then be for an appropriate socket to enable full force tactics from exten. bar or rattle gun and the heat in the process will help as well.

just weld carefully ;)

once we had a nh tl90 with Iveco engine on it with engine oil drain plug like that on lot of have I guess but that was a sod to undo also... was always awkward to get out to change oil so I welded a 24 mm nut on it never was a problem to remove after that

Someone read it.............(y)
Did you hit the bar in the bung or the bung direct?

Get a decent drift and give the bung a few hard cracks with the biggest hammer you can swing with one hand;) around the outer edge of the bung, inset bar and give it one good hard pull, (don’t ease into it just let it have it) see if that works(y)

Ps if it go’s be ready for the recoil:whistle:

times ive used a parallel punch that's just the fit of the socket hole and hit it a rap or two with the hammer but be careful, times a bung can be on thin enough cast and you could end up in a lot more trouble that you have right now, if its on a solid looking part of the gearbox then it ill stick more of a clout.
if its slightly proud then i do use a copper head hammer so as not to damage anything.
you need a shock to break the threads initially, an impact gun if its a good fit may do the job but be careful it wouldn't spin inside the square, your in bother then, if it dose that your looking at filling the square out with weld and building it up above flush with a bit of a nipple on it and then welding a nut to it but the heat will leave it easily removed at that stage.
